Used To Be the Story of My Life

Gymnastics.
You have no time.
Straight to gym right after school,
Three to four hours of hard training.
Muscles, skills, determination builds,
Social life deteriorates.
Continuous thoughts of,
"I can do this,
I can't do this.
Practice tomorrow,
All week long.
Meet on Saturday,
Will I be ready?
This is so hard,"
But you put up with everything anyway.
Gymnastics,
You have no time.
You get home,
You forget things for school.
All you think about is sleep,
Next day,
Same routine,
Same routine,
For the day and for each event.
Same skills,
Each needing improvement
For it to be perfect.
They say,
"Practice makes perfect."
Nothing's ever perfect
In this world.
You may have a chance for a perfect 10.
But all you really want is some down time
Every now and then.
Gymnastics,
You never have the time.
But still,
All you ever dream about is,
"That title will be mine."
Gymnastics,
It's a lifestyle,
It's my lifestyle.
