Deliberate Hesitation

The night is cool and warm.
We're sitting on your
Trampoline at midnight.
The stars are shining
Just for us.
We're sitting
Shoulder to shoulder,
Listenin to the distant
Sound of the crashing waves.
My heart just won't behave.
Each beat picks up speed.
I have more breaths
Than I honestly need.
I try to relax.
I close my eyes.
I picture the skies
Forming hearts
Above our heads.
"You okay?"
You ask me.
I hesitate,
I think of how
I should respond.
I smile and I just rest my head
Upon your shoulder.
The breeze was gettin colder.
I feel your arms wrap around me.
I could feel it was meant to be.
"Definitely."
